Home-Built Steadycam or Digital Video Stabilizer ?

There's a filter for Virtualdub called Deshaker that you could try experimenting with. I've had good results with it, but it's very slow (as are commercial apps). I agree with you about steadycams being the best choice, but sometimes you don't have one!
