Question about Windows media player 11!?

hey guys! i have a problem and i thought i'd go here before i tryed spending a whole bunch of time figuring it out! anyway my problem is that my WMA 11 always plays the video's a little too dark, so it's hard to see what going on sometimes, the problem is ,is when i go to enhancements and raise the "brighten" bar it brightens it but it discolors it and makes the experience worse, is this a bug or a glitch, or is it a setting thats on thats doing? anyone know? i never had a trouble with this before it always brightened with the discoloration,thanks!
