Cat has yellow rice like squishy objects on fur?

My kitten has squishy yellow rice like things on her fur. They dry into small hard orangish-brown grains with a slightly black head. None of the yellow grains are found around her rear, and I can't find more than 1 or 2 when I search her fur, but I found 30+ dried grains on her bed this morning just from overnight. I can't tell if she's itchier than usual, but she has always been a skinny cat and I'm worried about parasites (not to mention she likes to sneak onto my pillow at night after I've fallen asleep). They show up mostly where she's been lying down, though every now and then one will fall off when she's moving. I don't know where they're coming from her because I rarely can find the grains until they've fallen off and dried up. Apparently my Mom's cat (an outdoor female) has come inside with them often, which might have ped it on to the kitten. I looked up fleas, lice, and other parasites. So far the lice match best, but the size seems wrong (the yellow moist things are about the size of 2 grains of rice side by side). Any help?
